All are invited to a free public presentation by Prof. Karen E. Fisher of the University of Washington, an embedded ethnographer at Za‘atari Camp. The refugees who live at this haven on the Jordanian border have brought many of the old desert ways of cooking and surviving. Dr. Fisher will be your guide to the methods used by the women there when they prepare regional foods for all occasions, preserving Syria’s cultural knowledge and renowned food practices for the world. A questions-and-answers discussion will follow her talk. This event will be held in Michigan, but available for anyone to stream online. Click HERE to stream online.
