Restaurateur Keith McNally, has officially opened an outpost of his classic New York style tavern and bar, Minetta Tavern, known for its vintage feel and Parisian menu in DC’s Union Market District. Some menu highlights at Minetta Tavern include Grilled Island Creek Oysters, with pancetta, Fresno chili butter, panko breadcrumbs, Soupe à l’Oignon with Gruyère and baguette, Coq au Vin with housemade gnocchi, chantarelle mushrooms, guanciale, shaved black truffles, Brook Trout, and more. Above the restaurant is the Lucy Mercer Bar, featuring an indulgent menu of finger foods, small plates, cocktails, and French wine. Its decor is inspired by 18th-century French aesthetics, a striking contrast to the 20th-Century American tavern below.
